We're Here for the Boo's! - October 25, 2016

So glad Christy didn't use this costume to scare us!
On Tuesday, October 25th, Christy hosted the Women Who Wine for a Halloween party. Ten ladies were able to attend this evening event. And yes, we loved seeing the house lit up at night!

After days, weeks (!) of decorating, Christy's house is to die for! The pictures do not do the Halloween decorations justice but here are a few...

All treats, no tricks!
While sinking our teeth into tasty treats, Christy had everyone guess the number of candy corn in a (what else?) wine glass. There were 166 candies with Daryl coming the closest with a guess of 156.

The evening was cool enough to enjoy sitting outside for a couple of games of "Mr. and Mrs. Right". Christy had us guessing which end was up by the end!

The "Camping" Episode - Friday, October 7, 2016

"While camping in the wilderness, keep in mind that the only thing
between you and adversity is a zipper and a thin strip of fabric."
Comforting to know!

On Friday, October 7, Vicky arranged an outdoor adventure in Madera Canyon. Eleven ladies were able to join for campfire grilled hot dogs, s'mores, assorted salads and, of course, wine!

While not as luxurious as this little camper, we had plenty to eat and drink!

Way to color coordinate the shades, ladies!

A big thank you to Vicky, our hostess and chief cook!

What are they up to?!

Looks like a VERY deep discussion. Can't be politics, they're still smiling!

A goodly part of the gang!

More s'mores, please!
Cathy is in a sticky situation.
Don't mess with her though, look at the size of her, um, pitchfork!
Fortunately we didn't run into this guy!
We've heard he's been attempting to inspect hiker's picnic baskets in Madera Canyon.
We were just as happy to bypass the inspection!
And finally...(eek!)

Roadhouse Cinema - Friday, September 9, 2016

“Oh how Shakespeare would have loved cinema!”
~ Derek Jarman, Dancing Ledge ~

Last Friday afternoon nine of us started out from the Clubhouse on our WWW adventure and headed for the Roadhouse Cinema to see the movie “Sully”. It was a really great movie. I had no idea of all the controversy surrounding the landing of Flight 1549 in the Hudson River!

We missed Connie, who thoughtlessly scheduled her knee surgery on the first Friday of the month and Daryl, who is so darned responsible where her job is concerned and Vicky, who better not have a flimsy excuse too.

I’m not sure how Judy knew where this theatre was, but it was certainly worth the drive. When we got to the Roadhouse Judy gave each woman a little treat bag to enjoy while watching the show.

It was the first theatre I’ve ever been in where you had a call bell on your “reclining” seats and the waitstaff came and took your order and delivered it in minutes all while enjoying the show. They also had a restaurant with what looked like really yummy offerings.

After the movie we headed over to Casa Valencia for some really great mariscos. The menu was so huge it was hard to narrow your choice down to just one thing…delish!

The menu looks like a book!

Oh, did I mention the margaritas weren’t too shabby either!

Yum!
Judy, thanks for a fun evening of camaraderie and lots of laughs and memories…the WWW

Happy Birthday Connie! August 25, 2016

The Women Who Wine gathered at Vicky's house for a celebration of many things! Before Connie submits her knee for a retread and lets her 70th birthday go to her head, the WWW got together to break some bread and, yes, enjoy some wine! We missed our friend, Carole, but there were eleven of us who celebrated with food, wine and friendship!

Yummy spread for the occasion!

Spa and Ahhhh Day - Thursday, August 19, 2016

Our annual spa day started out early...it must have been a little too early for Connie since she got lost in Quail Creek on her way to pick up Ruth.  After stopping and fueling up at Starbucks we enjoyed the ride munching on homemade biscotti, complements of Ruth, which gave us energy for our thought provoking conversation.

Once the contingent of Connie, Cathy, Kelly, Ruth and Debbie arrived at Starr Pass we had a little bit of time to kill before the first appointment so Cathy, Kelly and Ruth put on a fashion show for us modeling dresses from the little boutique.  Ruth actually bought a gorgeous flowing, and sheer, dress and had her toenails painted to match.  She’s going to be a big hit at the pool party she’s going to next week.  Look out men!

After all our beauty treatments we ended up being more lovely than when we arrived, if you can believe that.

Lunch was delicious as always and then we headed out to the pool to claim our cabana.  We had the pool mostly to ourselves and enjoyed the weather and the water.  Once again, we over did the snack. We’re no slouches when it comes to eating so we made short work of delicious fruits, cheeses, crackers and dips…yummy!

We also made a new friend while we were there.  Gail was there alone dropping off her son at the UofA so we invited her to join us for some snacks, drinks and lively banter around the pool.  She thought we were wonderful and witty, which I guess we kinda were, so we invited her to join the WWW if she ever moves to AZ from NH.  There was a teensy bit of wine consumed which may have contributed to our wonderfulness.

This was the 3rd year for our spa day and it seems to get better with age…as we do!
