Happy Birthday Connie! August 25, 2016

The Women Who Wine gathered at Vicky's house for a celebration of many things! Before Connie submits her knee for a retread and lets her 70th birthday go to her head, the WWW got together to break some bread and, yes, enjoy some wine! We missed our friend, Carole, but there were eleven of us who celebrated with food, wine and friendship!

Yummy spread for the occasion!

Spa and Ahhhh Day - Thursday, August 19, 2016

Our annual spa day started out early...it must have been a little too early for Connie since she got lost in Quail Creek on her way to pick up Ruth.  After stopping and fueling up at Starbucks we enjoyed the ride munching on homemade biscotti, complements of Ruth, which gave us energy for our thought provoking conversation.

Once the contingent of Connie, Cathy, Kelly, Ruth and Debbie arrived at Starr Pass we had a little bit of time to kill before the first appointment so Cathy, Kelly and Ruth put on a fashion show for us modeling dresses from the little boutique.  Ruth actually bought a gorgeous flowing, and sheer, dress and had her toenails painted to match.  She’s going to be a big hit at the pool party she’s going to next week.  Look out men!

After all our beauty treatments we ended up being more lovely than when we arrived, if you can believe that.

Lunch was delicious as always and then we headed out to the pool to claim our cabana.  We had the pool mostly to ourselves and enjoyed the weather and the water.  Once again, we over did the snack. We’re no slouches when it comes to eating so we made short work of delicious fruits, cheeses, crackers and dips…yummy!

We also made a new friend while we were there.  Gail was there alone dropping off her son at the UofA so we invited her to join us for some snacks, drinks and lively banter around the pool.  She thought we were wonderful and witty, which I guess we kinda were, so we invited her to join the WWW if she ever moves to AZ from NH.  There was a teensy bit of wine consumed which may have contributed to our wonderfulness.

This was the 3rd year for our spa day and it seems to get better with age…as we do!

Toad Party - August 5, 2016

Well, let's change molly for another glass of wine!

Carole opened her house to host a Toad Party for the lovely Women Who Wine. She tempted the ladies with Margaritas, Sangria and wine. The ladies brought appetizers so there was plenty to go around!

Once everyone had a glass (or two!) the games commenced! First up was CornHole with two teams competing. Carole, Debbie, Pam and Kathy were the winning team! Next up was Ring Toss. Rumor has it that Pam was the big winner for this event. Even though thunder and dark clouds kept the ladies out of the pool, it was fun, fabulous day! Carole had contest prizes and surprises for the ladies. A most excellent Toad Party!

Murder She Wrote! July 1, 2016

"Oh dear, I never realized what a terrible lot of explaining one has to do in a murder!"
~ Agatha Christie ~

There were 7 ladies and 6 gents who attended the Murder Mystery Theater at 2445 S Craycroft Rd, Tucson, on Friday, July 1.

The evening started at 5 pm, with a “Great Race” from the Clubhouse to Five Palms.  The Hasson vehicle was first to arrive at the lovely building – shades of Miami Vice!

The others arrived shortly after, and our fabulous waiter, Nick, made sure we were not thirsty.  The Piano Bar was really enjoyable, and time flew while we chatted.

About 6:45 PM, we were shown to the dining/stage room.  Dinner began with a lovely wedge salad, followed by a great chicken and potato dish.  Dessert was a delicious Cheesecake.

The show was interactive, and the busy performers were also our servers.  Several magic tricks were performed for the audience, followed by a “Who Done It” Murder Mystery.  The performers were funny and talented, especially Miss Trixie.  We are still trying figure “her” out – 6 plus feet tall, and blinged to the max.

An added treat was having our very own Kelly on stage.  Then Ron and Christy competed in a Dress-the-Baby Contest, complete with a baby bottle – so appropriate.  Did they take it home?

It was a fabulously fun evening, and Pam certainly worked very hard to ensure we had the best venue and a wonderful time!
